To me, fashion and art go hand in hand. Art is about expressing yourself. There are countless artistic mediums available for one to genuinely express themselves including fashion. What we wear, how we chose to wear it—expressing our inner self through our outer flair. Although these pieces typically don’t hang on the walls of museums, they reflect our creative and cultural designs over the years. But what happens when you combine fashion with iconic pieces created by artists in a more traditional sense? The Very Warm has set out to merge the two worlds and curate wonderful collaborations with contemporary artists. I’m thrilled to partner with them to help style the navy Grant Jacket.
The Grant jacket is a lightweight satin coach jacket also available in Palm, Mauve, Pale Blue, and Black. The exterior is simple and clean—everything you could ask for in a coach style jacket (see below for a discount code!). The fit is overall true to size—slightly relaxed but with a contemporary shape. It leaves plenty of room for layering but won’t look odd if you only want to wear a t-shirt underneath. It has zippered side vents, two interior chest pockets, and a dyed twill tape finishing along the shoulder and pocket rims to give it that finishing touch. It’s a classic style that’s reinvented for a smart-casual look.
On the inside is where this sleek jacket comes alive. The lining is printed with an iconic piece by world renowned artist Jasper Wong titled ‘Catch A Tiger’. Wong comments:
“Rise and shine and catch a tiger by the tail, but be careful because it might bite back. This design is all about one of my favorite felines – the tiger. It’s a symbol of strength and fierceness, but also sugary cereals. They’re GREEEAATTT!”
Wong is an artist, illustrator, curator and art director that is best known for his Asian-influenced pop culture art. He has exhibited worldwide and has been selected multiple times by Archive magazine as one of the 200 Best Illustrators in the world—as well as Hypebeast’s 100 most influential figures in the industry. The black and white illustrative line work on the inside of the jacket is a beautiful contrast to the navy exterior.
Every piece that The Very Warm produces is a mini collaboration with an artist they admire. They have designed a creative and tasteful way to honor the artist and their work while adding a unique and personal touch to each piece. Minimal yet dynamic, each jacket is constructed with high-quality fabric and trim with an interior that stands out while fitting in.
