Today’s post is part of my on-going partnership with Korchmar.
I’m not quite sure when it happened, but recently I’ve definitely become a ‘bag’ guy. Not just for the practical necessity of carrying around my daily accessories, but for the stories they carry. A good bag should last an incredibly long time. It lives life with you—becoming a trusted sidekick through all your travels. When I first received the waxed canvas Twain weekender from Korchmar, it felt like it was ready for an adventure. Although brand new, it was full of character and life.
The Twain weekender is one of Korchmar’s best-selling styles. The waxed canvas version already comes in a beautiful olive color and is now also offered in Cadet Grey as part of their Expedition Collection. It’s inspired by the West Point cadets and uses a beefy 18ox waxed canvas. Waxed canvas is a thick cotton that has a natural beeswax based wax that is either applied to the cloth or woven into it. It first became widely used in the sailing world as it had wonderful waterproofing capabilities. This makes it an exceptional option for a duffel bag.
The Twain weekender is 22” long and designed to fit in most airline overhead compartments. It is big enough for a long weekend away (or even longer if you’re a smart packer)—but also an appropriate size for a larger gym bag. It’s built tough. There’s no need to baby this bag. It has a bountiful amount of gorgeous brown leather designed and integrated with the canvas. The bottom of the bag is constructed completely of leather with 7 brass studs to provide protection throughout your travels (or the daily grind).
Much like the Centennial Weekender, this has unique ‘clamp down’ ends to allow for the main compartment to expand. It’s fully lined with a classic checkered plaid 6.4 oz yarn dyed twill. Inside the bag is a large zippered pocket and a few places to store accessories. It also comes with a removable and adjustable shoulder strap. Time to start planning some adventures!
As always, a huge thank you to Korchmar for sponsoring this post and providing me with the waxed canvas Twain Weekender to photograph and use. All styling is my own.
