Beating the heat with MANGO.

Two weeks until summer. I have a love–hate relationship with this season. On one hand, I love the beach, taking hikes in the woods, and grilling out with friends—but on the other hand, I’m not too fond of the blistering and humid East Coast heat. As I continue my partnership with MANGO, I’m put together a casual and stress free look for the summer months.

I’m typically more comfortable in a pair of jeans or khakis, but it’s not possible to make it through summer where I live without shorts. I like them to hit just above the knee (an inch or two) in a fairly tailored fit—not too slim but not baggy. When assembling an outfit with shorts, I approach it in the same way I do wearing pants. Minimal and classic pieces in neutral colors and complimentary silhouettes.

Up top, it’s always a safe choice to wear short sleeves—although you can also get away with a long sleeve button down or even a hoodie. I opted for a short sleeve button down in a navy linen. It’s lightweight and breaths easy for the extra hot days. I styled it to be worn unbuttoned and layered over a horizontal striped t-shirt. It’s a timeless look that I’ll never get sick of.

With shorts, I personally always wear low top sneakers and no-show socks. These sneakers provide minimal detailing that really help pull the look together. The contrast rubber sole helps bring out the color in the shorts while the burgundy leather panels add complimentary tones to the navy. The sunglasses also have a rich, warm color that give a bit punch to the simple combination.
