As a long time fan of OPUMO, I’m thrilled to be teaming up with them for today’s post. For those of you that don’t know, OPUMO is a contemporary lifestyle platform that sells everything from menswear to interior design merchandise. The items they carry meet a strict criteria of quality materials, superb craftsmanship, and originality. This creates an wonderfully content-rich environment. Their website is beautifully designed with a minimal and clean yet modern and bold interface which is easy to navigate. I often use it as a destination to discover new brands.
I was honored to be featured in their ‘Who We’re Following’ series across their magazine and social channels this past week. In case you missed the interview you can read it here. I talk a bit about what I do for a living and why I chose to photograph in flatlay format.
In preparation for today’s post, I spent a long time familiarizing myself with their current collection and selected a few of my favorite pieces to style a spring ready outfit. Whenever introducing new items into my wardrobe, it’s extremely important that they are well designed, quality pieces that aren’t overly fashion-forward or trendy. I want each item to stand the test of time through style, fit, and construction. I’m gonna walk you through each piece to explain why I chose what I did.
Sneakers: First off, let’s start with the sneakers. It’s no surprise that I’m a sucker for a clean white, minimal, court style sneaker. Diemme is a brand that I have been wanting to try for a couple years now. The white Veneto Low Sneaker is constructed from the finest of deerskin leathers. Handcrafted in Italy, it’s clean and minimal yet incredibly dense with luxury and comfort. The leather is soft (I mean seriously soft) and supple. I ordered a size 43—which is the same size that I wear in Common Projects.
Jacket: Sunspel is a brand from the UK with an extremely rich history. It has been producing classic garments for 150 years and is now known worldwide for its luxurious and incredibly well made essentials. The Harrington Jacket is an outerwear staple that’s light and roomy enough to throw over a sweater or pairs perfectly with a classic white t-shirt for the warmer months. The dark olive color is extremely rich and creates an impeccable contemporary jacket.
T-Shirt: Also from Sunspel, this is the Cotton Riviera T-Shirt in white. It was originally designed for Daniel Craig in Casino Royale but has been updated with a slightly wider neck and a heftier cotton jersey. The fabric is incredibly gorgeous—made from 100% long-staple cotton which is finished in Italy. The fibers are twisted together to form a smooth but strong thread that won’t tangle when worn or washed. This process creates a slightly heavier weight t-shirt but still light enough for spring and summer. The attention to detail is remarkable.
Jeans: I don’t have too much experience with Hawksmill Denim Co. but have encountered them in some of my previous searches. I’ve been looking for a pair of dark wash denim that had just a bit of fade—these Regular Tapered Jeans fit the bill perfectly. I don’t tend to enjoy overly distressed washes at the moment, but this was just subtle enough to work well with my outfit selection. It’s made from 14oz organic cotton and features a union special chain stitched hem.
Book: TASCHEN is a leading art book publisher known for coffee table books on design, fashion, architecture and many more. I have a couple books from them already—one on Richard Neutra and another about Frank Lloyd Wright. I was looking to widen my collection and learn more about one of my favorite design duos Charles and Ray Eames. They were one of the most progressive and revolutionary husband and wife team that transformed modern design.
Grooming: I’ve been making an effort recently to improve my skincare routine and loved the design on these pieces. Founded in 2009, Sweden based brand L:a Bruket set out to produce high-quality, organic skincare and grooming products that are permeated with natural ingredients surrounded in the western coast of Sweden. I’m excited to incorporate the Grapefruit Leaf Hand/Body Wash and Lemongrass Hand Cream into my daily routine.
The remaining accessories are all items that I already had in my collection from other collaborations and gifting opportunities. They are products that I love and use often—and are also all available at OPUMO. The sunglasses are from Finlay & Co. A very similar option is available here. To be honest, I like the Crystal version with a blue lens just as much (if not more) then the version I own. I’ve been hooked on this style of round frame with a keyhole nose bridge for a couple years now. Although it’s a bit of a trend, I’m still an avid fan of crystal frames. The watch is from DUFA, a German-based company inspired by the mid-century modernism of Bauhaus. Their minimalistic design combines vintage style dials with contemporary watchmaking. Similar styles are available here and here. Last but not least, the Master & Dynamic MW50 Wireless Headphones sound as good as they look. A New York City based company that takes pride in their simplicity in design and impeccable sound quality.
I had a wonderful time styling this outfit and look forward to putting the all of the products to good use this season. Thanks so much to OPUMO for sponsoring this post and providing me with the much of the merchandise. All styling and words are my own!
