Suitcases these days have a lot in common. Most of them have wheels, a handle, zippered compartments, and designed to lighten your load. The Samsonite ECO-Nu checks all those boxes and goes one huge step further—it’s also designed lighten the earth. For today’s post, I’ve teamed up with Samsonite to pack up the 25” ECO-Nu Expandable Spinner and walk you through some of my favorite details—which left me absolutely eager to travel more!
So how can a suitcase lighten the earth? The answer is as simple as it is beautiful: all the fabrics, including the lining, are created entirely of 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. The bottles are melted into a liquid polymer and then purified into filament yarn. From there, the yarn is woven into an incredibly durable and sleek fabric.
I try to make an effort to recycle on a daily basis. I care a big deal about the environment—but lets face it, I’m not perfect. However, when I’m faced with the option to purchase a product and support a brand that’s making environmentally friendly choices, then the decision is a no brainer. It’s a very rewarding feeling. Each little decision can go a long way.
Let’s get into some of the key features because it’s not just the recycled fabric that separates this bag from the rest. The ECO-Nu comes with a Saguaro™ Wheel System—designed to weigh less and move better. All 4 wheels can spin 360 degrees which allows for extremely easy maneuvering. This is my favorite when walking through the airport or a busy city street. You can walk quickly with the luggage beside you, in front, or behind—it’s the best way to travel.
The ECO-Nu takes the extra step by adding a T-Bar nylon extension on the zipper with a metallic accent end piece. It’s an extremely smooth, headache-free pull with a sophisticated look. Inside the luggage is a Smart Fix Buckle that keeps the tie-down straps off to the side while you’re packing up the bag. When bag is full, you have easy access to the buckle to secure all the items in place.
The main packing compartment is extremely generous. However, I’m notorious for bringing too many clothes and shoes. Luckily, there is a Hidden Expansion System with a zipper found tucked into the discreet zipper pocket. This allows for an extra couple inches of space in the main compartment. Once expanded, you can also use the T-Bar zipper to ‘double zip’ the expansion for added compression if needed.
Another feature is the telescoping pull-handle. It has an innovative design and an easy grip texture to allow for a more secure hold. The slide is secure and smooth as you pull it up and retract it.
Overall, the ECO-Nu is designed to ‘lighten the earth’ and lighten my load with a weight of only 8.59 lbs. This includes 2 extra front compartments and an incredibly handy storage system behind the front flap. It’s sleek and strong with reinforced sides. It comes in 3 colors and 4 sizes—a carry-on, 20”, 25”, and 29”. I opted for the 25” in Midnight Black although the Pacific Blue was a close second. I have a vacation planned in the upcoming months so I’m looking forward to putting this to good use!
Thanks so much to Samsonite for sponsoring this post and providing me with the ECO-Nu. It was an absolute pleasure teaming up with them again. All styling is my own!
