Warming it up with Nautica

Linen is one of God’s little gifts to the warmer months. It always reminds me of those careless summer nights on the boardwalk. I picture myself with a golden tan and loose shirt blowing in the breeze…but in reality, I’m badly burnt and sweating up a storm. My strategy for those hot evenings is to stay cool with the wonders of linen. Today, I partnered with Nautica to style one of my all time favorite spring and summer outfits.

You can’t beat a white linen button down shirt for spring and summer. It’s not only a classic piece, but highly functional. It’s breathable, lightweight, and absorbent—and a cooler fabric than silk or cotton. I prefer a somewhat relaxed or classic fit with linen shirts. It should look like you have a bit of room to move and breath.

With movement, comes the wrinkles…and lot’s of them! For flatlays that can prove challenging, but nothing a good steamer won’t fix. For everyday life, I actually love it. The more creases it has, the more character it gains. It reminds me of a pair of raw denim—which creases and conforms itself to your physique. Each individual crease is unique to you—the way you move—the way you live. The more you wear linen, the softer it gets. It becomes such a personal piece in your wardrobe.

I paired the linen shirt with a pair of light washed, slim fit denim from Nautica. I’ve been getting a lot of use out of these lately. The fit isn’t too skinny which is perfect for me. I’m learning to appreciate a bit of room in my jeans lately. The light tones are wonderful for the warmer days and help get me excited for the summer.

I also styled it with Nautica’s brand new Voyage Heritage cologne which is inspired from the cool mist of seascapes—capturing the perfect essence of spring and summer. Alongside that is the brilliant Syd watch with a beautifully style face and classic strap.

As always, I am proud to be a brand ambassador for Nautica—thanks for sponsoring this post and providing me with the products.
