White jeans and navy tee. A clean canvas with Nautica.

white jeans and navy tee from Nautica

Wearing white denim is not only for the fashion forward or those with extreme levels of confidence. It has come a long way in the last decade. Now it is considered an essential part of a man’s summer wardrobe (but can also be worn all year round!). With that in mind, I styled a foolproof look in collaboration with Nautica to help you feel and look fresh in white denim this summer.

It doesn’t take long to know that I’m a huge fan of all shades of blue jeans. However, sometimes you need to break free from your comfort zone and try something new. White jeans are a perfect alternative, especially during the warmer months. In my opinion, they are a tad dressier then blue jeans but still casual enough to be in your daily rotation. They create a blank canvas for your favorite t-shirt, sneakers, and sunglasses. It’s a wonderful way to embrace minimal style while adding a slight punch to your outfit.

However, there are a few rules that I personally like to follow when wearing white denim. First, I always prefer them to be free of distressing and rips. I don’t mind a raw hem so much, but otherwise crisp and clean is the name of the game. I also don’t prefer the fit to be super skinny. Overall, I think that trend is moving behind us—pants and jeans seem to be loosening up a bit. However if you still prefer skinny jeans, I might consider relaxing it up just a bit when wearing white denim. White seems to visually accentuate your silhouette just a bit more then blue or black jeans. I prefer to keep the fit slim and tailored—a little room in the thighs and a clean tapper to the hem. You should be able to bend your knees and still partake in summer BBQ games. On that note, I also suggest you ease up when it comes to keeping them crystal clean. Have fun, play around, and embrace the dirt. They will get dirty (probably within the first hour of wearing them!).

These white jeans from Nautica are crafted from Japanese selvedge denim with a subtle trim fit. They check all the boxes for me. The fit modern—not too skinny and not too loose. I’d suggest ordering true to size for a more modest fit or potentially sizing down for a slimmer option. I like to give them a quick cuff to show off the selvedge line.

The rest of the outfit is styled simple and casual with a minimal elegance that I’m always drawn towards. Remember, white denim is a wonderful backdrop for your favorite articles of clothing. I paired it with a solid navy crewneck t-shirt to compliment the white. Navy tees are one of my staples for the warmer months. Today was more mild in temperature, so I threw on a denim jacket for the morning commute. Although the jacket and pants are both made from denim, having the contrast in colors helps to break up the materials.

As always, I am proud to be a brand ambassador for Nautica—thanks for sponsoring this post and helping me ease into the workweek after a extra long weekend!
