Falling with Nautica. A little tan and blue to set the mood.
This post is part of my ongoing partnership with Nautica. All styling is my own!

I’ve long been a fan of the navy and tan color combination. Why? We’ll to put it simply, it just works! It’s a palette that’s subdued enough to blend when you don’t want to stand out—yet consistently looks refined and well put together. The crisp and clean contrast from the upper to the lower show that you’re conscious of your clothing and didn’t just throw on an outfit in the dark! While it may be a bit basic, that’s okay. After all, what’s wrong with the basics? They should make up the base of your wardrobe, and you should be able to wear them over and over again.

As we make our way into the colder months, it’s time to start packing on the layers. The cooler temperatures seemed like they arrived so quickly this year. However, I was promptly ready to battle the crisp fall air with the Navtech Breton Stripe Crewneck. It’s available in a whole host of colors depending on your preference. I opted for navy and white which is perhaps the most classic color combination of them all. As I’ve mentioned before, stripes aren’t just for summer—they work all year around. It’s a wonderful way to spice up the navy and tan color palette—adding just a bit of extra intrigue and design.

Layered on top is the Classic Bomber Jacket in navy. This is a item that I’ve posted a couple times previously which just goes to show how versatile the design is. When you invest in a jacket, you want to be able to wear it often. This design is classic and elegant with a soft waterproof fabric. It’s a fairly lightweight material which proves good throughout fall, and also a nice layering piece come winter. Navy is my favorite color for a jacket. My closet is absolutely FULL of navy. It’s a neutral base that’s easy to layer. I recommend building up your wardrobe in neutral colors because you’ll get the most wear out of them.

The chinos are key to this look as they add a stunning visual contrast color which is aesthetically pleasing and fall appropriate. These are the Slim Fit Marina Pants (color from a previous season) but are available in a similar color with the Straight Fit Corduroy Pants (which are even more fall appropriate!). These pair nicely with navy button downs and chunky knits—fully embracing the season.

It doesn’t take much to put together a simple yet smart combination. Stocking your wardrobe with quality basics in solid tones and neutral palettes will go a long way—making you feel comfortable and confident in your style decisions.
