Today’s post is part of my ongoing partnership with MANGO Man. All styling is my own.
If you look in your closet and see nothing but varying shades of blue then you might have the same obsession with the color as I do. Navy blue, denim blues, bright blue, blues so dark that they are mistaken for black—I love them all the same. The color is wonderfully neutral which allows for some serious layering opportunities.
We’re in full on winter mode now—which means almost no skin is exposed to this bone-chilling weather! I’m layering to the max and love every second of it. MANGO has become my go-to place for this season’s layering essentials. They are no stranger to seasonal basics yet offer stylish and trendy alternatives as well. As someone who relies on a more minimally based wardrobe, they don’t leave me wanting more.
Today’s outfit from MANGO focuses primarily on using different shades of blue to create a complete look. You may do this already without thinking much about it—or you may feel a bit cautious about wearing so much of one color. Well I can reassure you that blue is a wonderful color to layer with just a few key tips to keep in mind.
As much as I love a tonal navy on navy look—you may feel a bit more comfortable wearing a lighter shade of blue with a darker one. Dark jeans look amazing with lighter blue tops, and lighter denim pairs perfectly with navy sweaters and jackets as seen in today’s post.
I’d also recommend playing around with different fabrics and textures. The sweater in today’s look has a textured appearance which makes it visually interesting and separates it from similar tones of blue. It contrasts nicely against the denim and wool jacket.
Accessorizing is another thing to keep in mind with tonal outfits—especially this time of year. It’s easy to throw on a scarf and a beanie, which create a lot of layers and depth to a monochromatic outfit. Grab a tote and your all set for some last minute holiday shopping or casual day at the office.
One item that I wouldn’t pair in blue would be the shoes. I prefer to add a bit of contrast on your feet. It’s hard to find me wearing anything but white court style leather sneakers lately. This pair offers a contrasting suede panel to add just the right amount of color to the look.
Thanks to MANGO Man for sponsoring this post and providing me with all the necessary garments to battle (or embrace) the winter blues. All styling is my own!
