Beach bound with Nautica
This post is part of my ongoing partnership with Nautica. All styling is my own!

I’m beyond excited to finally be making my way to the beach for a much needed vacation. The only downside is that I constantly struggle with what to bring and wear. The weather is always a bit unknown, and temperatures can vary greatly on and off the beach. Beach style can be an opportunity to have some fun with your outfits—mix up the materials and inject a little color and pattern. One thing is for sure, it’s the perfect time to embrace nautical vibes. It wouldn’t be the shore without a bit of Nautica.

Lately the heat hasn’t been letting up. Beach weather can be a huge relief from the constant humidity. However in late August, it can be a bit tricky to forecast. It might be mid-80s or 90+ degrees during the day and then drop down to 70s at night. For the boardwalk breeze I always like to pack an extra layer. This Classic Bomber Jacket is the lightweight layer you need for just this scenario. All style without the bulk—which means you can wear it on a chilly evening or easily carry it around if it’s too warm to layer. The fabric is even water resistant in case you’re caught in rain (the hood will come in handy!). The navy color is extremely versatile. You can see other ways I’ve style it here and here.

One thing for sure, you definitely need to pack a pair or two of shorts. Even if you’re a ‘pant guy,’ it’s almost impossible to spend a week at the shore without breaking out a pair of shorts. This summer I’ve moved away from ultra slim fitting shorts. It feels like the trends are heading in the direction of clean and classic fitting clothes. For me, this doesn’t mean oversized and extra long—but rather a pair with just a bit of extra room to move around while still keeping the length right above the knee. These Anchor Stretch Shorts have a bit of elastane to support movement with a classic inseam at 8.5”. I went true to size on these even though I have rather muscular thighs. Extremely happy with the flat front clean fit.

It wouldn’t be beach style without stripes. This Nautica tee is from a few seasons back but still has a strong presence in my wardrobe. If you’re looking for an alternative, I’d check out this Striped T-Shirt or the Block Stripe Tee in white! I also really like this Breton Stripe Sweater in Grey Heather and Navy—would be a perfect layer for late night beach walks.

Also styled is Nautica’s leather money clip (similar here) and Sydney leather watch (similar here).

As always, I am proud to be a brand ambassador for Nautica—thanks for sponsoring this post and helping me relax this weekend after a long week of work!
